This is exactly the same machine as another on amazon that costs almost twice as much. I have no problems with it because I read the directions. It works perfectly for me and is well made and easy to move around. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS before complaining that it spits water. It simply means you put too water in the container!

I hate to iron anything first of all, but I thought that a fabric steamer would help me out a lot, and this McCulloch Fabic Steamer #1407 did just that. I steam all of our shirts,pants,pull over knits, place mats and everything comes out great.There are some draw backs on this machine, the hose is not long enough, I stand 5'9 and this hose is made for a very short person, This is my main complaint about the machine as I am concerned the I will pull on the hose and knock the machine over on its side. The fabric brush, its an attachment, falls off all the time, you can't put it back on when the machine is on due to the hot steam, annoying and time comsuming. The say you can do drapes while on your windows, well you can if you have another person willing to hold the steamer up so that you can do such a job. I didn't expect a 10 ft hose but this hose is too short. I have made up a steaming area in my laundry room. I have a blanket folded into 4's and then I covered that with a white sheet. I have 3 different hanger positions on the wall so that when I do the long sleeve shirt I do not have to maunver the shirt sleeve, but rather just move the shirt to the right or the left. Pants are a different story, but after all the moving they come out beautiful. I did steam a wall tapestry, it was brand new and had creases in it from shipping. Not only did the creases come out, but it made the colors brighter, though I was on a ladder and had someone else holding the machine. I think that mite be dangerous.ALL in ALL, for the money, this is a good steamer. Its the first one I have ever owned and my expeirences are limited. Wish I could buy a longer hose for it, and find a way to keep the fabric brush from fall off. It does heat up in just a few seconds and it has good pressure.For the money I would buy again, find me a new hose PLEASE. I boutht this on amazon for a great price, and fast standard shipping.

I have worked in clothing retail and used many expensive garment steamers over the years. The McCulloch 1407 is better than many of the ones that cost much, much more.Light weight and very portable the 1407 produces a constant flow of steam in as little as 45 seconds from the time you turn it on. The removable water container makes filling and refilling easy and safe PLUS the container has water levels in increments of "how long" it will produce steam...15 minutes, 30 minutes etc. etc.I often see folks complaining that garment steamers tip too easily or spit water droplets. My response is "when used properly (don't pull so hard)the steamer is quite stable and an old trick of the trade for ALL garment steamers is to gently tap the steam head occasionally to release any built up water.In conclusion...great product, great price.

ReplyDeleteI actually own two of these steamers and this one is so much nicer than the other one that I have. The tank is much larger and holds a ton more water than my other one. The handle is nicer and has the removable brushes on it. The hanger piece is adjustable and can be unscrewed to go smaller, or screwed completely to be larger. The hose is protected by a Braided covering and does not get hot when in use. The height of the entire steamer is adjustable as well. Its really great for anyone that is required to wear dress clothes and is much faster than using an iron and board. I am very impressed with the product and I would definitely recommend it. It's much better than my other one and I will never use another brand after using this one.
