The SINGER Perfect Finish Steam Iron is a fully featured 1700 Watt iron that delivers expert garment care. An accurate LED temperature control alerts when your desired setting has been reached with the perfect amount of steam for different fabrics. The steam is distributed evenly, ensuring fast, efficient ironing and outstanding performance. Innovative steam features help battle stubborn wrinkles: steam in the vertical or horizontal position, burst of steam button, and variable steam temperature from cool to hot. A brushed stainless steel soleplate offers effortless glide and the iron is self-cleaning with a anti-calc for long product life. A safety feature of 3-way auto shut off allows you to walk away and not worry if you turned off the iron: after 8 minutes the iron will shut-off if left vertical, 30 seconds if left horizontal with no movement, and 30 seconds if it falls to the side. A 360 degree pivoting power cords allows a free range of motion. An open tip simplifies ironing pleats or around buttons. An anti-drip design prevents those annoying leaks when using the iron at low temperatures. The iron weighs less then 3 pounds and has a 94 inch cord. A limited 2 year warranty is included.

No more water splashes!

THE OLDI was never entirely happy with my German- made Rowenta which had a water retention problem. It was so bad that on the higher steam settings my clothes would get soaked on a regular basis, and when it started to stain my white clothes I just looked for an upgrade.THE NEWTwo new Singer models advertised an anti- drip mechanism; this one and the Expert Finish. According to Singer's website, the models are similar except for the LCD and more temperature levels on the Expert Finish. I'm from the "keep it simple" school of thought, so I forewent the wizardry and picked this version.THE GOODAs expected, the iron is easy to use. Pressing the power button cycles through the four temperature levels, lighting up the appropriate label on the handle. I really like that the temperature label blinks while the iron is not yet at the correct temperature, a useful gimmick which even works in reverse: for example, if you iron cotton and then switch to synthetics, the new label blinks while the iron cools down! The water retention feature works perfectly well, too: the only time it would fail and wet my clothes is when the iron hadn't achieved the set temperature yet (blinking label). Feature- wise, we also have a dependable auto-sleep (as far as I can tell after ~1 year of use) and a cleanse function. Most importantly, I think the handling is good: the iron always slides nicely; and it's neither too heavy nor too light for my taste.THE NOT SO GOODThis iron is powerful, and perhaps a little too much so: with the light and TV on, the 20A breaker would trigger in my home. I solved this by running an extension cord to an extra circuit, but that's not convenient in every setup - perhaps Singer didn't think of our weaker American household voltage? Also, the water retention mechanism occasionally makes a VERY startling noise, which sounds quite precisely like a fuse blowing. As for steam, I'd say it's sufficient but certainly not abundant even on maximum, so you'll have to press the burst button over wrinkles (which does work ok). Finally on the negative side, I find all four buttons (power, spray, burst, cleanse) hard to press.THE VERDICTThe "not good" list seems long, but all in all this is a great iron which easily puts my Rowenta to shame, and at barely half the price! "I love it", i.e. five stars, is doing it justice in my opinion.

This is the BEST iron I've ever used, and I've gone through lots of irons - at least 2 per year. I iron every day everything I own. The Singer Perfect Finish 1700 Watt Steam Iron is simple to use and doesn't drip water all over my clothing. I have not had any issues with finding the correct temperature to iron each piece of clothing. I love the audible signal that tells me when the temperature level has been obtained.

Not all that is cracked up to be......

I first received this iron about 4-5 months ago and like most people, I was really happy with the results when I first started using it. About 3 months ago, I cleaned the iron for the first time and everything went fine. Well, this month (April), I cleaned it again. Well, sad to say that the iron starting acting crazy. It kept beeping and shutting off and then it starting dripping water from the holes and at the bottom. When I set the temperature to the max setting, it would flash for awhile and then go back down to the first setting. Then it would leave the first setting and then go to the second setting and up to the third setting and then it would shut itself off. After awhile, it would not come on at all. So now I am stuck with an iron that will not work.So buyer beware of this iron. I have read all of the reviews in regards to this iron and everyone has given it 5 stars. Well, unfortunately, I have to give it a 1 star because it has not been a full year and the iron stopped working. It worked fine for awhile but now it is gone.Thanks.
